ICFJ Offers Online Course in Digital Journalism in Arabic
The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) invites Arab journalists to apply for an online course in digital journalism which will run from November 9 to December 21. Deadline to apply: October 26.
The six-week course will be led by: Daoud Kuttab, an award-winning Palestinian journalist and founder of Amman.net, and an expert in community radio both offline and online; and Hoda Osman, a former filed producer at the investigative unit of ABC News in New York, and the Vice President of the Arab and Middle Eastern Journalist Association (AMEJA).
During the course, participants will learn to:
• Define digital journalism: types of News Web sites, elements of an online news story, differences with traditional media, and advantages of new media
• Write for the Web: how to choose a story, search techniques, packaging stories for the Web
• Utilize multimedia tools: review of useful software programs, creating image/audio slideshows, creating news videos, RSS feeds and Podcasts, journalists’ blogs, new media cast studies
• Prepare for the future: ethics of online journalism, advertising on news Web sites, and the future of online journalism
