Former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan is on a three day trip to Kenya to urge the government to carry out political reforms. The measures were agreed after over 1,000 people were killed violence last year which followed disputed presidential elections. Mr Annan has called for the country to have a new constitution within 18 months. He will also push for the organisers of the violence to face justice. The country failed to meet a September 30th deadline to set up a local tribunal. Debate continues as to whether organisers and perpetrators of the killings should face trial at the UN court in The Hague.
