investigation against three African leaders accused of embezzlement. Transparency International, the anti-corruption group, accused Denis Sassou-Nguesso of the Republic of Congo, Teodoro Obiang Nguema of Equatorial Guinea and the late Omar Bongo of Gabon and their relatives of using public money to buy luxury homes and cars in France. However, the French court ruled Transparency International could not bring a case against foreign heads of state. The group said it will appeal against the decision. The accused deny the charges.
