Liberian Corrupt Official Killed
By Tayo Adelaja
Unidentified gunmen have shot dead a Liberian government official in charge of tackling corruption. Keith Jubah, who headed the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission, was shot repeatedly outside his house on Sunday night near the capital Monrovia. One of Mr Jubah’s relatives told reporters his body was also set on fire. Police have not yet linked the killing to Mr Jubah’s position, but relatives said nothing was stolen from him during the attack. The commission is responsible for monitoring government concessions and tackling corruption in privatization contracts. Mr Jubah was also a close aide to President Ellen Johnson. The police declared yesterday they had arrested two suspects, but gave no further details.
